Eric Flint’s 1632 & Beyond
Issue 20
Eric Flint’s 1632 & Beyond has reached issue 20.
Mysteries and detective stories keep coming up in the 1632 universe, so we decided to do a whole issue of them.
Magdeburg Messenger
(Fiction)
Christian “Kit” Schinkenspeck relates, as only he can, his firm’s latest case in the issue’s cover story, “Grantville Gumshoe In Thunder And Lighting.” . The story and the cover art are both by Tom Kidd, who is the cover artist for Baen’s 1632 books.
The Abrabanel network is threatened with betrayal. Dominik and Hildegard travel to Erfurt to investigate but when a man drops dead right in front of her, Hildegard herself comes under suspicion. Can “The Gozmar Betrayal”, by David Hankins, be untangled in time?
Something is going on in Halle. Quite a few people are on the case—some of them getting help whether they want it or not. Keep your eyes open in “The Shell Game” by Marc Tyrrell.
High school freshman Regina Drehmännin is left holding the bag—or something!—that is very out of place. Most of NESS is out of town, so it’s her case—and all the classic advice is wrong. “Chekhov, Schrödinger, Occam, and Murphy” is by Bjorn Hasseler.
1632 Universe News
This year’s 1632 convention will be at Philcon in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, November 20-22. (That is the weekend before Thanksgiving in the US.) If you are going, please let us know in the Facebook group.
A roleplaying game is on the way! Steve Jackson Games will publish GURPS Ring of Fire for the fourth edition of GURPS (Generic Universal RolePlaying System). You can find out more at sjgames.com. If you were part of the BackerKit, you have probably received an email about digital rewards.
