Eric Flint's 1632 & Beyond: Alternate History Stories

Happy Holidays from 1632 & Beyond!

Whether you are early-shopping in October, or last minute shopping after Christmas (but before you see the recipient – we’ve all been there), we have some gift-giving ideas for the 1632 or alternate history fan in your life. Whether it’s a single issue, a free download, or a premium subscription, we are here for you!

If you have someone you think might like 1632 but who hasn’t read any of it yet, you can start off with the simplest, least expensive option: free downloads. Not a Black Friday or Cyber Monday discount – fully free, with no end date! 1632, Eric Flint’s book that started it all, is free on Baen through their Free Library. Interesting factoid: Eric Flint was a key figure in getting the Baen Free Library up and running. In addition, we are proud to offer the first issue of our magazine as a free download. Christmas Special Editions

Did you know that Eric and his wife Lucille co-wrote a 1632 Christmas story? They did, and it’s in one of our two Christmas special issues – 1632 & Beyond Special Issue #2. “Sad Spectacles” by Eric Flint and Lucille Robbins shows how new ideas can blow up even the most entrenched paths. Of course, where there is an Issue 2, there must be an Issue 1! 1632 & Beyond Special Issue #1. These two issues, combined, have all the content originally published in A 1632 Christmas, one of the last Ring of Fire Press books Eric Flint worked on, except one story included in a Baen novel about Marla Linder. You can also buy the two issues as a bundle, and save almost $2.

Gifting a Subscription

Once you have someone you know is interested, it’s time for a gift subscription! Just make sure the select “this is a gift” before adding it to your cart. (The recipient will need to create their own 1632andBeyond.com account.) Then they will have an entire year to enjoy 1632 short stories! Of course, if they prefer novels, Baen has plenty of 1632verse (Ring of Fire) novels to choose from.

You have two options: premium or regular. The Premium Subscription includes the earliest access and bonus online content. How early? In many cases, before we finish the cover! That’s right, once the interior is done, we will upload the new issue for our premium subscribers to read online on our website up to one month in advance. Once the cover is complete, our premium subscribers will be able to download it up to three week in advance of it becoming available on Amazon and other websites. Premium subscribers also receive access to read 12 copies of “The Grantville Gazette” online, with one issue taken down and a new one put up each month. Because we are readers too, our premium subscribers have special access to serialized content that lets them read all the parts in order on our website, even though they were published in multiple issues, often non-consecutive. This perk makes it easy to read through some of our serials (both 1632 & Beyond and Grantville Gazette) from start to finish.

The regular subscription (monthly or annual) is slightly less expensive than buying issues individually and also grants earlier access, but not as early as a premium subscription. Regular subscribers will be ableo to download the magazine up to a week in advance of the regular release on Amazon and other websites.

Thank You

It’s easy, especially as a business that needs to turn a profit, to simply look at how to get the most for yourself during the holidays, but that’s not how Eric Flint lived his life. Even as we work to make sure this business is as profitable as possible, we know that without our readers, we quite simply don’t have a business. That’s why we created a new, less expensive option for subscriptions and made Issue 1 free. But it’s also why we host salon zoom calls every month and why we have made changes to our website based on reader comments and feedback.

We appreciate you. For our new readers – thank you for joining us. For our long-standing readers – thank you for sticking with us. For those of you who leave us reviews – it really does mean a lot. For all of you – thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
